A Birthday Story

The night before Jordan's birthday I wrapped his presents, made his cake, and blew up a few balloons. Then I got everything all ready for the next day and I went to bed...

The next morning Jordan crawled in bed with me and I thought fell asleep. At 8:30 I woke up and he was no longer beside me and the apartment was quiet. So I went to check on him and this is what I found...

Who wants to wait for mom and dad to open presents?! He took matters into his own hands and opened his presents, threw away the wrapping paper (that's my kid!), and started putting together his new toys.

Of course I couldn't be mad at him. It was HIS birthday. As I sat there helping him put together his new batman castle I thought to myself how out of character this was for Jordan. And then I remembered this and laughed out loud...

Maybe not so out of character after all. The kid loves his birthday! After church we had Toy Story 3 mac and cheese for dinner (Jordan's choice) and then some of our friends came over for cake and ice cream.

Jordan chose green cake with blue frosting...then the side fell down when I frosted it and a monster cake was born.

(Luke threw those little pop fireworks while we sang Happy Birthday)

And now he's FOUR!

Yay! I always think of little Jordan around my Jeffrey's birthday for some reason. They are just so close in age. I love how he just went and opened his present and started playing. Awesome.
