Bernard - Our Christmas Elf

I knew I wanted to do an advent calendar this year with little suggestions for things to do each day leading up to Christmas. There were so many great ideas to craft one but when it came down to it I knew I didn't have the time or money. Then I read this post--perfect. Even the elf's name was perfect. Meet Bernard, our Christmas Elf...

(I know he's kind of a creepy mischievous looking elf. I found him at TJMaxx. I'm pretty sure the check out lady was thinking, "why in the world do people buy this stuff?!")

Santa sent him to our house after Jordan went to see Santa on December 1st. Bernard keeps an eye on Jordan all day and then goes back to the North Pole each night to let Santa know if Jordan should stay on the nice list or move over to the naughty list.

So here's what we've done so far...

Dec 3rd - Bernard brought J glitter pens to finish his Christmas cards that he started the day before. He also sent him a netflix-Jingle All the Way.

Dec 4th - Bernard told him to ask his parents to take him to the town Christmas Parade.

Dec 5th - Set up the nativity and listen to the First Presidency Christmas Message

Dec 6th - I was up late the night before working on something and forgot/was too tired to print up the little card SO we watched 2 little christmas messages at lds.org and ate Gingerbread cookies

Dec 7th - Bernard apologized for being snowed in at the North Pole the night before and brought all the stuff to make muddy buddies with instructions to give some to our friends and save some for him. Which you can see he thoroughly enjoyed in the picture above.

Dec 8th - Bernard had two tickets to see Disney's Toy Story 3 on Ice. Luke was relieved I mean devastated that he had to work and couldn't go with us. It was actually very entertaining and Jordan loved it.

Dec 9th - We will be shopping for our sub for santa gifts.

So far Jordan's really enjoying looking for Bernard each morning and finding out what he wrote in his itty bitty letters.

This is "The Elf on The Shelf" book. I have this, we do this too! It's a lot of fun. In the book set, your kids get to name the elf themselves. It's a fun thing and is most likely going to become a tradtion in my house for years. Hope you guys continue having fun with "Bernard" for years too!

Maybe Bernard could tell Jordan to skype with his cousin Carter so they can discuss what they want for Christmas!
