Jordan's Hemangioma Update

Yesterday was Jordan's long awaited (booked the appt 2 months ago) appointment with a pediatric dermatologist to check out his hemangiomas (those red spots). We weren't too concerned about them, but a friend recommended a really good pediatric dermatologist and we thought we might as well cover all of our bases and get a specialist to check them out. And when I say 'them', I mean all FIVE of them. The boy is practically a dalmation.
So she took a look at them and confirmed that they should all go away by the time he is five. The smaller of the two on his forehead did concern her just a bit. It's hard to tell in pictures but the skin surrounding the dot is raised up--almost like when you get a goose egg. There is more hemangioma underneath the skin and it causes the red part that is visible to peak. Her concern was that 4-5 years from now when it does go away the skin might be loose from being stretched for so long and then we would have to do something about it. So she gave him a steroid shot right in the hemangioma to hopefully decrease the size 20% and reduce the stretching. So it was nice to once again receive confirmation that nothing is wrong and they will go away.

Well, as you probably know, Cason and I know ALL about the hemangioma dramas. Jocelynn's is getting smaller everyday. Sadly enough though we had to give her an oral steriod, which stunted her growth for a while. It was hard, but she's been off of the steriods for a while, and is catching up fast to her sister. It was hard for me at first to grasp the whole, "theres a big red dot between my kids eyes" but then it just kinda went away. I even forget its there anymore, until somebody says, "oh, what happened did she fall down?" WOW! haha. I just respond back with something smart like, "no, my husband was tossing me the remote from across the room and it hit her right between the eyes??" just kidding, thats mean, but people are... well, not all there sometimes. Well good luck Jordan is getting so cute and big!
